Women FPO Meeting Organized at KVK NAVSARI

Women FPO Meeting Organized at KVK, Navsari To resolve the challenges of agricultural-based marketing businesses, the Government of India has initiated the establishment of Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) across the country. These FPOs are formed to empower farmers and strengthen their collective marketing system. In this regard,under the guidance of honourable Vice Chancellor Dr. Z. P. Patel, Navsari Agricultural University, Navsari, Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), NAU, Navsari and True life enterprise collaboratively organized a “Women FPO Meeting” on 29/08/2025 at KVK, Navsari, with the objective of linking women farmers to value addition and agri-based entrepreneurship. The program began with introductory remarks by Senior Scientist and Head of KVK, Dr. Sumit R. Salunkhe, who welcomed all participants and highlighted the importance of FPOs for women farmers. During the program, State Nodal Officer and Life Enterprise Director Shri Madhavbhai Joshi explained the objectives, functioning, and financial support mechanisms available under FPOs, emphasizing their role in improving farmers’ income. Representatives from CBBO (Cluster Based Business Organization), Shri Parth Kachiya, provided detailed information about the formation and activities of FPOs. Dr. Sumit R. Salunkhe, Addressed the gathering, addressing the importance of women’s participation in collective farming businesses and value addition. Further, he motivated all the farm women to start own business. Prof. K. V. Makwana, Scientist, in his address emphasized the role of FPOs in empowering women farmers through collective efforts and value addition. Mrs. Nital N. Patel, Scientist, motivated the women farmers by encouraging them to actively participate in entrepreneurial activities. She invited them to share their ideas and experiences related to startups such as agro-tourism, pickle making, and other value addition ventures, thereby inspiring them to explore new opportunities for income generation. More than 70 women farmers from different talukas of Navsari district actively participated in the meeting. The participants were guided about the benefits of joining FPOs, such as collective marketing, better price realization, and access to government schemes. The successful coordination of the entire program was carried out by the KVK scientistsDr. Sumit R. Salunkhe, Prof. Makwana, Mrs. Nital N. Patel, Dr. Snehal Patel and KVK team. The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. SnehalkumarA. Patel, who expressed gratitude to all dignitaries, participants, and supporting organizations.
